Always install the tip restraints provided with new furniture by following the manufacturer’s instructions. Reduce children’s temptation to climb by never placing enticing items on top of furniture where children can see but not reach them.

Mount flat-screen TVs to the wall or to furniture to prevent them from toppling over. Parents should anchor all furniture that children could climb on or grab.

Existing furniture can be anchored with inexpensive anti-tip brackets. Find tip restraints online or in the baby-proofing section of your local hardware store.

Televisions should only be placed on furniture designed to hold a television, such as television stands or media centers.
